Privacy statement

What you write is yours. This is what PrayerJournal does and does not do with your data.

Draft, not yet reviewed legally

The marked passages still need to be reviewed or completed. The rest describes how the app and this website work now.

In short

  • Your topics and prayers stay on your own device. They do not go to us or to a server.
  • There is no account, no tracking, no advertising and no cookie.
  • Only feedback that you send yourself leaves your device.

Who is responsible

PrayerJournal is made and maintained by (to review) name, address and, if applicable, chamber of commerce number of the responsible party to fill in.

Do you have a question about your data? Send a message through Feedback in the app, or email (to review) contact email address to add.

What stays on your device

Everything you put in PrayerJournal is kept in your own browser’s storage (IndexedDB) on your own device:

  • your topics, groups, dates and prayers;
  • your notes on prayers that were answered;
  • your settings, such as theme, language, background sound and motion;
  • a feedback message that you have not sent yet.

We cannot see this. There is no account and no server it goes to. If you clear your browser data or remove the app, everything is gone. A backup is a file you make and keep yourself; we do not receive it.

Because this data only stays with you, we do not process it. (to review) To review: does this fall outside the GDPR, also because prayer data can say something about religious belief (special category data)?

What you send yourself

In Settings you can give feedback. Only when you tap Send, this is included:

  • your message and its kind (something does not work, an idea, something else);
  • your email address, only if you enter it yourself and want a reply;
  • the app version, a short description of your device, whether you use the app installed or in the browser, and your language.

Your topics and prayers are never included.

Your message arrives as an item in a private environment on GitHub that only the maintainer can access. We use your email address only to reply to you. (to review) Determine how long feedback is kept. (to review) GitHub acts as a processor here; review the data processing agreement and the transfer to the US.

Want us to delete a message? Let us know through Feedback in the app or by email.

Website and hosting

This website (prayerjournal.nl) and the app (app.prayerjournal.nl) are hosted by Vercel. On each visit the hosting service temporarily processes technical data, such as your IP address, to be able to show the page and to limit misuse of the feedback form. We do not use this data to follow you.

(to review) To review: Vercel’s role as processor, retention of server logs, transfer outside the EEA and the legal basis (legitimate interest).

Cookies and tracking

PrayerJournal and this website set no cookies, use no analytics or advertising services and load nothing from third parties. Fonts and icons are shipped with the site itself.

The storage in your browser (above) is needed to make the app work and to remember your settings. (to review) To review: does this fall under the exemption for functional storage in Dutch telecommunications law, so that no consent is needed?

Your rights

For data we hold, which is only feedback messages that were sent, you can ask for access, correction or deletion. You can also object to its use. We reply (to review) within one month: confirm the term.

Do you disagree with how we handle your data? Then you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes

If anything changes in how PrayerJournal handles data, we will update this page and state the date below.
